Steve Lank (Instructor)

Steve has been working in the language services industry since 1987, having started out as a freelance translator and project manager, and subsequently holding senior management positions with language services providers in the US, Ireland and Spain. This background has given him a deep and thorough understanding of all aspects of the translation and interpreting project life cycles, as well as of the business imperatives driving client language services requirements. In addition, from 1998 to 2011 Steve served as chairman of the ASTM subcommittee responsible for developing and publishing ASTM F2575 Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation, the first standard of its kind in the United States, and he currently serves as the technical contact for the update.

He teaches in the University of Maryland’s Graduate Studies in Interpreting and Translation program and earned an MA in Spanish Translation and Interpreting from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

Throughout his career, Steve has always been a strong advocate for the profession and for bringing new practitioners into the industry. To this end, Steve speaks often to student groups about careers in language services, mentors translators who are starting out and works on language industry initiatives, both in Europe and the US, to reach out to academic institutions to advocate for the type and level of language, translation and interpreting training that is required to better prepare students to succeed in the market.

Dina Rodrigues (Instructor)

Dina Rodrigues has lived in the localization world for over 25+ years. Her roles have included project manager, program director, general manager, operations director, and now account manager.

Born in Portugal, Dina emigrated to the land of opportunity when she was an infant. She became the de facto interpreter for her parents as they navigated the administrative labyrinth of paperwork and forms, thus igniting her love of language and culture.

The bulk of her career was spent in small translation agencies where she wore many hats including vendor manager, ISO manager, sales, documentation specialist, and trainer. In mid-2019 she joined RWS and traded her operations hat for an account management/sales hat where she brings the benefit of her years behind-the-scenes experience to every new challenge.

Dina recently became SCUBA certified, which combines her love of travel and exploration.

Gilbert Segura (Instructor)

Too many years in localization–Dell for a decade, Amazon, Lionbridge, Welocalize, and a few in between and thereafter; working for clients big and small: Gilberto has been practicing multimedia, Machine Translation, Automation, Knowledge Management and sorting out all the confused tools to get it to work. He has seen most, if not all, of the complexities that stand in the way of reaching a global audience and has worked to overcome them or learned a lesson by failing.
